DACs and Servers

DACs. DAC is short for digital to analogue converter. Most digital sources have one build in but they are also available seperately. They have a big influence on sound quality so great care is taken over their design.  Some take the date from the medium as it is and convert to analogue, some upsample to improve the source material with great results.

Servers. These allow you to store music in a variety of formats. They allow you to access music throughout your home. They should offer bit perfect CD copying to ensure performance is maintained and also collect the metadata such as album cover and track information. Some of them sit in between your home network and streaming device to give isolation from your computer network.
