What we Say:

The ATC SCM100 SL is the 3rd model in the classic range and typifies what ATC are famous for. This is large 3 way standmount loudspeaker that for some people will be the only loudspeaker they will ever need. It is available in a tower version which increases cabinet volume. ATC fit the same  driver units in both models.  The cabinets are hand crafted near the ATC headquarters in Stroud. Each cabinet is a piece of furniture using quality real wood veneers. The ATC SCM100 SL is suitable for use in quite large rooms due to the quite large 100 litre enclosure.

The drive units are identical to the SCM50 with the exception of the bass unit which increases to approx 12″.  The sense of effortlessness offered by these speakers is something you cannot appreciate without hearing them.  Anyone that likes a speaker that reproduces scale and dynamics will love the SCM100SL. It isn’t instantly showy or impressive by boosting bass or treble in an unnatural way. It just unravels what is on the recording and presents it to you as it was recorded whatever level you like to listen to music at.

We cannot recommend this speaker highly enough.

SCM100 SL

Overview

The SCM100 ASL (active) and SCM100 SL (passive) are designed to perform at their best with the finest quality hi-fi equipment.

Like their smaller brother, the SCM50 ASL, the monitors’ ability to reproduce music and speech with phenomenal accuracy, transparency and dynamics lies mainly in the SM75-150S soft dome midrange driver. However, recent modifications that include an upgraded tweeter and enhanced port profile have brought about further improvements in all performance parameters.

Bass performance is equally impressive, thanks to ATC’s 12″ professional level bass driver that incorporates the company’s unique Super Linear Magnet technology. Bass, mid and HF drive units in the active model have their own dedicated and individually matched MOSFET amplifiers.

ATC’s active crossover network consists of a wide band-width, electronically balanced input stage with high common mode rejection and very low distortion.

In passive form, the SCM100 SL provides broad and symmetrical dispersion, excellent amplitude and phase characteristics throughout the audio frequency range.
