What we Say:
The Technics SU-G700M2 is the replacement for the outgoing SU-G700. It is an integrated amplifier with built in high performance DAC. It has a wide variety of analogue and digital inputs including a moving magnet phono stage so is very flexible. The amplifier is rated at 70W per channel into 8 ohms, this doubles to 140W per channel into 4 ohms. It will drive most modern loudspeakers with ease.
The new SU-G700M2 retains the retro styling and fantastic Japanese build quality of the original. The casing design looks very crisp and the VU meters are very eye catching, a nice touch. It is a great partner to the SL-1200G turntable. The new design benefits from trickle down technology from the Reference class SU-R1000. Inside the amplifier the case is divided into three distinct compartments. The compartments isolate the more sensitive circuit from power supplies etc. The compartment on the left contains all the power supplies. The compartment on the opposite side houses the most sensitive circuitry such as the phono stage. These signals are often only a few thousandths of a volt or less so very sensitive to noise.
The amplifier features a high quality class AA headphone amplifier equipped with a 6.3mm jack socket.
